Guest Blog: You Love Your BFF Make Sure You Don't Let Them Forget It
Your best friend is there for you through thick and thin. Whether you regularly talk about how much you appreciate each other, or you have a more strong-and-silent sort of friendship, you know that your life is better because your best friend is in it. It's easy to take the people we love for granted, and letting them know how glad you are to have them in your life is a great way to celebrate the special bond that you have. Let's take a look at some fun ways to celebrate the joy of having a best friend in your life, and letting your partner in crime know how much they mean to you.
Get face time in!
If you're separated by miles or circumstances, that doesn't mean you can't have the joy of chatting face to face. Video chatting is a great way to talk with your best friend no matter how far apart you may be. While phone calls and texting are great, there's nothing that can replace seeing the look on your best friend's face as you tell them a crazy story.
Make Plans
Plan your next outing. but fill your time together with all of your best friend's favorite things. Have dinner at a restaurant they love, see one of their favorite plays, or see a movie you know they'll enjoy. When you put your best friend's needs ahead of your own by choosing to spend time doing their favorite things, they'll glow at the thought of how much you care about their happiness.
Surprise them with snail mail
When's the last time you wrote someone an old-fashioned letter? The art of letter writing has been lost on many, but everyone gets excited when they see a handwritten envelope in their mailbox. Send your friend a funny postcard, or just write them a note letting them know how happy you are that they're in your life. This works great even if they just live down the street - a tangible letter that shows your appreciation for them will be treasured for years.
Carve out one on one time
If you're lucky enough to live close to your best friend, you may see each other often. No matter how busy your lives get, make sure to carve out some one on one time every so often. While time spent with each other's families and significant others is wonderful, there's something special about getting to hang out with your best friend, just the two of you, like when you were kids.
Appreciation Book
Special occasion coming up? Talk to the people in their life and ask for reasons why they love your best friend so much. Compile their answers into a special card or book. They'll get to see how wonderful they are through the eyes of all the people who care for them the most.
Try something new!
If you've been best friends for a long time, likely, you fall back on the same comforting activities when you hang out together. Try something new for a great way to bond and grow the power of your friendship. When you try a new activity, you're creating memories and making yourself vulnerable to making a mistake. Both of these components add depth to your friendship and just might allow you to find a new favorite activity.
You love your best friend, and you know how important they are to you. Don't let another day go by without telling them how much you appreciate their presence in your life.
